Ogre Man

Indie artist Ogre Man (@earlraydaogre) from Dallas, Texas has done his thing for years. From his mixtape True Rayligion through his single Royal Treatment, Ogre Man has enjoyed success on the internet and in the streets.

Understandably, he believes that Indie artists deserve more opportunities to be heard on traditional radio.

We caught up with Ogre Man recently and he took time away from recording to talk to Hits You Love Radio.

What is your music background? I started out singing gospel and R&B when I was 5 years old but when I turned 8 I started to transition to rap. I also enjoy listening to classical, smooth jazz and opera.

Who are your musical influences? My biggest influence has to be Scareface as well as Tupac, Biggie, Red Man, Rakim, WU-Tang, UGK, Nemesis, Ice Cube, Brotha Lynch Hung, Tech N9ne, Twista, Bone Thugs in Harmony, Jay-Z, Outkast and NAS.

What are your long-term career goals? My goals is to grow my brand as a artist to the point I am a house hold name. I also would like to get into movies as well my books that I am working on hopefully can transition into movies or T.V. shows. Would also love to put together organizations that can give aide to those in need and truly make a difference in our communities.

If anything, what would you change about the music industry today? I would change the way music is promoted on the air waves, I feel the independent artist need more opportunities to be heard on national radio. Thankfully we have the internet radio platforms but it would be great to hear the local/independent artist that have great music as well.

Get up on Ogre Man’s (@earlraydaogre) latest single Royal Treatment now:
