REVILUTION’s Self Titled EP Is Available Now
Written by Staff Writer on June 14, 2019
Their self titled EP is now available. We recently caught up with the REVILUTION. They were nice enough to answer a few questions for Hits You Love Radio.
Tell us about your latest release.
Marie B, Vocals: I was having a conversation with Dan and it turned out to inspire me to begin writing a song called GirlStuff, which came out right before our latest EP. I also have an album idea and a starting plan to move the band to perform, release a commercial and attract new band mates. I just write them down on paper, old school when they come to me.
Dan Seitz, Vocals, Guitar: Our latest release is a self-titled EP that we recorded at World Famous Studios in Lakewood, Colorado. Ricky Brewer produced and Pete de Boer engineered. They were songs that REVILUTION had recorded and released several years ago when it was just Marie and I doing everything ourselves. “Bastard” is the hit; I was living in my sister’s garage, everything I owned in the world crowded around me, and I was just so hyped to be finally doing what I wanted in life, with no one holding me back! I felt very empowered, despite everything I’d gone through, was STILL going through, because I was doing my thing my way, no apologies. That’s where “Bastard” came from. “Face Down” came from a line I read in Stephen King’s “The Drawing Of The Three;” a main character’s brother is a heroin addict being held hostage by these gangsters, and they shoot him up to keep him quiet. Then while the gangsters are occupied with other things, the addict dies of an overdose; “Henry’s last rocket went up,” I think the line was, basically. The pointless death of a pointless man. I changed the name in “Face Down” because Ricky was more alliterative than Henry. And “Phantoms” came from another hard time in my life; I’d been laid off, drawing unemployment, couldn’t find work, and the government was all balled up with partisan politics. I needed to renew my claim, but one party refused to renew anyone’s claim and shut the government down instead. It made me realize that if we put so much trust in our leadership that we happily follow them right off a cliff, then we’re not asking enough questions. But trying to find answers through all the spin and double-speak is a bit like chasing ghosts. The songs sound way better now, polished, and with better playing because we have better musicians than me in the band.
But they still retain their edge and attitude, and people really enjoy them.
How do you keep the band amped up with so many high powered shows back to back?
Scott Flint, Guitar, Vocals: That’s easy, we stay amped because we love playing live so much.
Dan: Scott used to say to me that he’d play at the opening of an envelope. At first I wanted to go out and just make money, but when I realized how much fun playing live is, I’ve decided he had it right and that’s how I feel now. Even if I just see one person nodding their head or tapping their foot to the music, that totally makes my night!
Marie: As far as keeping the band amped for back to back shows…I don’t. The shows are what we draw our energy from. To put it metaphorically, it would be the shows are the seeds. The band is the water, vitamins and sun that create the photosynthesis for growth. Just apply that to shows and the band.
When will you be hitting the studio again?
Scott: We hope to hit the studio in the fall or early next year.
Marie: Dan and Scott will finish new music. It’s a process. Then Dan sends it to us, we listen to it and practice it. I’m not aware of a time frame for it right now.
Where can we see you performing your new music soon and how was Vegas?
Marie: As far as Vegas, we had the support of the other bands and the venue as well as the audience. We traded places with the band who was going on after us and then during the show when our drummer broke his snare drum the gal from Loser Parade jumped up and loaned us her snare drum. We had a mosh pit going, crowd participation off the chain and we completed our performance. The entertainment vibe is unparalleled to any I’ve seen elsewhere, in Las Vegas. I LOVE it!Scott: Las Vegas was great, We love playing there, the audience is always very supportive, it’s a good vibe all around. And you can catch the band at the De Oro Mining Company in Spring Valley June 15th.
Dan: We’re also playing at Five Star Bar DTLA on June 20th, and Til Two Club in San Diego July 13th.
How can we download, buy and support your music?
Marie: To support us you can visit our website and social media accounts. We have tons of fun merch and music available for purchase. We do fill and ship all orders. All accounts include every post ever made. We don’t delete them. That way you can see the ongoing adventure with our band.

When did you all pick up instruments and decide to play? Are you all self taught?
Scott: My parents were both music educators, so I picked up on most all instruments at a young age. But by far, the guitar is my all time favorite and I was self taught. Reading music, however, I learned from my teachers.
Dan: I don’t read music very well, but I took piano lessons from my grandmother when in grade school, took a year of basic guitar in high school, was in school chorus and church choir, and taught myself to play drums when I was in the Army. So, mostly self-taught, I just noodle around until I play something that sounds cool, then try to turn that into a song.
Marie: I’m self taught and I’ve got formal schooling and experience in the entertainment industry. Starting with belly dancing and gymnastics and singing as a child. Church choir and modeling. I did runway modeling and the kind where I did still shots for instructional inserts as well as training videos for various companies I worked for. Oh, I tried to tell a joke in a competition once and they said why don’t you dance instead (after seeing me dance.) So I won some merch and concert tickets winnings in that. It was a Docks in Redding, CA. I think that place closed now. It was years ago. I remember I ripped my leather mini skirt so many times there that the people who repaired it wondered how I kept doing that. (FYI, I ripped the skirt because I was dancing. Just to be clear-so there is no mystery there or confusion.) I was also going to cosmetology school at that time. And working at Burger King of course. A gal’s gotta make money.
