Check Out A New EP from Ghilaff: Before You
Written by Staff Writer on August 20, 2019
This new EP is now available on Spotify. We caught up with Ghilaff not too long go. He was nice enough to answer a few questions for Hits You Love Radio.
What is your music background?
I started learning music at the very young age. I remember I was just 9 years old when I first played the congo drums live in my school annual function. I got my first song recorded in 2009.
Who are your musical influences?
Honestly I grew up listening to Hip Hop and R&B music. So you can say Eminem, Jay-Z, Jeremih, and Chris Brown.
What are your long-term career goals?
Well, I want to give all the independent artists a major platform so that they can focus more on their music. I been watching artists looking for music placements for labels to get their music out. So my plan is to build a reliable source for them.
What type of recording process do you use and who produced your recording?
That’s an interesting question. My recording process is very simple. First, I do record a dummy in my iPhone. Then I go to my studio to execute the entire idea. I produce most of my songs, except when it comes to post production. I have a very talented in house team of sound engineers who take care of my records.
Do you ever get the chance to perform live?Back in 2013, I used to perform a lot but I took a break since 2015. I didn’t have enough music to perform live and I don’t sing cover songs. Hopefully after my 2nd EP I will be ready for some crazy live performances.
Are you looking for to remain independent or to get a major label deal?
I am not specifically looking for label deals, but I don’t mind working with labels.
If anything, what would you change about the music industry today?
No one can change things alone in the music business. However, I would advise them to run more programs to push the independent artist.
Do you have any advice for up-and-coming artists?
Make more music.
Anything else you want to say on the people?
Keep supporting and stay healthy.
